Matthew 28:18-20

"Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.' "

   MISSIONS

“Missions” is our middle name. We take the great commission to heart in all we plan and purpose here at the Starkville church of Christ. Throughout the years we have had individuals, couples, families, the young and old alike venture off in areas of the world to serve Christ and spread the good news. While we have been involved in numerous missions and supported a number of missionaries over the years, this page presents some of the mission works that are currently ongoing ministries for the Lord. These include Mississippi State University (MSU); World Bible School; Por Los Ninos Children’s Home in Honduras; Africa Christian Hospitals in Nigeria and Ghana; Poland; Youth Missions in Honduras; World Christian Broadcasting; World Bibles for Christ; Sunny Brook Children's Home; Church of Christ Disaster Relief and Pinevale Children's Home.

Matthew 25:35-36, 40  'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;  naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'  '…Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'

Youth MissiBuilding Homes for the homelessons in Honduras T.O.R.C.H.

T.O.R.C.H. stands for: “Training of Redeemed Christians Heaven Bound.” Torch was originally started as a teen mission. It is designed and crafted to interest teens and their chaperones in short term mission efforts in Honduras. Teams build houses for the poor, provide food for the hungry, supply clothing and medical supplies, and most importantly, share the good news of Jesus with the lost.

For the last several summers, our youth have particitpated in this fruitfull mission effort. Last summer this mission trip built 18 houses for local Hondurans in need, distributed 500 bags of food, gave out 1000 pairs of clothes, visited a local hospital, held a Vacation Bible School for the children and baptized thirty-two people into Christ.

World Christian Broadcasting

World Christian Broadcasting exists so that people in places best served by broadcast media become aware of the Good News of Jesus Christ and want to know more.

World Christian Broadcasting’s international shortwave broadcasting communicates the Good News to millions every day.  KNLS, located at the top of the world in Anchor Point, Alaska, has been on the air since 1983.  A new station is presently under construction in the region of the Indian Ocean.

Through these shortwave transmissions, they blanket highly populated regions such as China, Russia, Africa, the Middle East, and also hundreds of smaller areas.  By speaking in people’s own language, forming friendships, and creating bonds of trust, World Christian Broadcasting sparks hope, interest, and curiosity among listeners.  Programming encourages a search for meaning in life, spiritual reflection, and personal study of the message of Jesus.  By the grace of God and the technology He provides, many will hear the Good News, perhaps for the first time, and respond to the life-changing invitation of God.  We feel privileged to be part of this unique and most important way to spread the good news of Jesus.

The Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Effort immediately responds to any major disaster in the continental United States by sending truckloads of emergency food, water, cleaning, and other supplies to disaster victims.

Our congregation especially assisted in hurricane Katrina relief efforts. Several teams traveled to work and provide relief to families who had lost everything.
